Planning a second wedding may not include as many bells and whistles as the first, but it will still require a great deal of thought and care.
The Plan of Action
When planning a second wedding you will need to decide what your budget will be,
where the wedding will take place, who to invite, what to wear, etc. You must have a plan to make the event run smoothly. Once the budget is set, you will decide how many people to invite, where the reception will take place, what kind of food will you serve to your guests and many other important aspects.
It is best to allow a minimum of six to eight months to plan your second wedding. This will leave you enough time to reserve a reception location, talk to a pastor, and buy all the clothes and accessories. Sometimes, planning a second wedding can be even more difficult than planning your first wedding.
For small or medium weddings, it is recommended you invite only the family and some close friends. In some cases, the couple goes on their honeymoon trip right after the reception. Buy airplane tickets and reserve a limousine to take you to the airport.
In the past, a second-time bride would wear a nice dress of any color but white. Now, however, wearing a flowing white gown is considered perfectly acceptable. A veil, which represents virginity, has no place in a second wedding.
Make certain children from the first marriage have important roles in the ceremony. The second wedding could mean the joining of two families, so it is important to make everyone feel part of the new family.
Planning a second wedding can be the same as the first time wedding, this is a perfect opportunity to make things different, and still keep the ceremony sacred. Your advantage is that you have experience and can avoid previous mistakes.
